Dharma@Cinema : Movie Screening cum Dharma Discussion (by Shen Shi'an)

Though 'Groundhog Day' was recently screened on Groundhog Day itself (2nd February) at NTU Buddhist Society, it deserves to be screened again - this time, at Dharma Drum Singapore! In many places around the world, it is a much celebrated movie that is both enthusiastically screened and discussed at length by Buddhists. Now, what's the fuss about?

The comedy fantasy, starring Bill Murray, opened in theatres 15 years ago to both critical and commercial success. Interestingly, many people, especially fellow Buddhists in the West claim that it's their favourite movie of all time (other than 'The Matrix').

It tells the story of a man who unwittingly embarks on a spiritual misadventure as he relives a particular day over and over - until he gets it right. What's intriguingly realistic is the portrayal of his natural process of growth that we can all relate to. It's a timeless tale about the deeper significance of deja vu experiences, and the infinite chances we get, squander and treasure in our many rebirths. Don't miss this classic (again)!

About Shen Shi’An

Shen Shi’an was one of the founding members of KMSPKS Monastery’s Dharma Propagation Division in 1997, with experience in leading web, library and event management. Currently, he serves as a Dharma Trainer in the Community Development & Training Department. 法鼓山新加坡青年会举办的佛教短片制作比赛，即日起将公开给本地以及海外各年龄层的朋友。欢迎大家踊跃参加， 并在12/7/2008之前将参赛作品呈上。详情请参阅短片制作比赛之规则和规例。

关于短片制作比赛

法鼓山新加坡护法会之青年会谨定于2008年2月至7月期间，首次举办佛教电影欣赏＆短片制作比赛。

比赛的宗旨目标如下 :-

1 ）希冀促进大众能对正信佛教有正知正见的思想，同时藉此活动的推展接引更多年轻人接触与认识佛教，达致教育与关怀为主轴的心灵环保理念。
2 ）提供因缘给予对拍摄，视频剪辑,短片制作与佛教电影制作有兴趣的朋友，一个全面扩展宏观视野与实践技能的教育平台。
3 ）积极推动佛教影片的创作与拍摄，藉此深刻融入佛教思想的精神层面、生活艺术与佛教寺庙的认知。

短片制作比赛的主题为佛教短片(必须是正信的佛教内容与真谛)。为了方便参赛者制作短片，参赛者可以使用任何类型的电影/视频记录装置，其中包括行动电话，摄影机，数码相机来拍摄他们的作品。

主题：新加坡的佛教短片

为了让参赛者在创作上有些概念与灵感，兹提供下列的部分题目给予参赛者作为参考，当然参赛者可以自由发挥其创作的空间与内容主题事项：

a）佛教寺院/中心
b) 佛教徒的生活
c）佛陀的教诲
d）佛教的故事
e）法师之故事与教学
f）佛教之节日，活动与事件
g）禅修与禅坐

参赛及提交日
比赛从2008年2月4日开始。
参赛作品的数量不受限制，参赛者可以个人或团体名义参赛。
每项参赛作品都需附上各自的报名表格。报名表格可从法鼓山青年会部落格下载或到法鼓山新加坡护法会索取。

作品之标准：

1 ）作品必须是参赛者的原创作, 而且从未播放、出版或发表过。
2 ）作品可用MPEG,AVI,WMV或其他可查阅格式。
3 ）作品的时间不得超过20分钟。
4 ）所使用的语言应是以英文和华语为主。

5）所有报名的参赛作品必须各自拷贝保存，主办当局将不会退回参赛的作品光碟。
6 ）作品事先须存放在光碟/数码影碟。同时连同已填妥的报名表格与作品讲解。邮寄或亲自提呈至：

评审标准：
内容（相关的主题） ： 40 ％
创造力/原创： 30 ％
技术能力： 30 ％

评审委员将会选出三部最好的创作短片。成绩将会在短片制作竞赛部落格公布成绩, 同时并通过邮件，电子邮件或电话通知获奖者。

现金奖将获得：
首奖： 300元
第一项特别奖： 100元
第二项特别奖： 100元

短片制作比赛之规则和规例

1) 比赛将是公开给所有年龄层的新加坡公民、永久居民与非新加坡公民。

2) 参赛者可以英语或华语制作短片, 而主题必须与正信的佛教内容真谛有关。

3) 短片必须是原创，不曾发表或被使用过的参赛作品。

4) 短片内容若涉及任何种族歧视、政治、偏执、仇恨或有伤害/针对到任何团体或个人，主办当局有权绝对取消作品的参赛资格，并无需给予参赛者任何的解释答复。

5) 所有参赛短片之版权将归法鼓山新加坡护法会。

6) 参赛者应自行负责所有的制作费用。

7) 参赛者如在制作短片过程中若有任何未可预知的损失/损伤, 法鼓山新加坡护法会, 法鼓山青年会和其会员将一概不负责与处理。

8) 对于短片制作比赛的规则和规则说明, 法鼓山护法会/法鼓山青年会保有最后的决定。

9) 法鼓山新加坡护法会/法鼓山青年会有权修改任何规则和规例，无须事先通知参赛者。

10) 任何参赛作品如不符合标准, 资格将被取消。

活动表:-
3月15日: 电影播放,接着电影鉴赏 – 主讲者沈时安 (光明山普觉禅寺)
3月29日: 电影播放,接着影片制作讲座 – 主讲者 韩耀光先生 (资深电视制作人)
4月12日: 电影播放,接着短片制作分享会 – 法鼓山新加坡青年会

短片制作比赛: 即日起至7月12日 (比赛截止日期7月12日)
